Unemployment of former temporary agents or contractual European communities

According to the “Social security scheme applicable to former temporary or contractual agents of the European Communities", in the event of unemployment the party in question will receive an allowance paid by the relevant service of the institution of the European Community where it has exercised their activity.

Unemployment allowance are paid to former temporary agents employed by an institution of the European Community.

REQUIREMENTS

To apply for the unemployment allowance, the former temporary agent must:

  • reside in a member country of the European Community;
  • have served for at least six months;
  • have remained unemployed due to end of service not attributable to resignation or termination of a contract for disciplinary reasons

In addition, he /she must register as an unemployed person in the employment services of the member country of residence and comply with the obligations imposed with regard to unemployment by the legislation of that country.

WHEN CAN I CLAIM?

To benefit from the allowance, it is necessary to submit every month to the community institution to which the former agent belonged the CE-AATC form for certification of compliance with obligations, filled out in boxes 1 and 2 by the relevant institution of the country of residence.

If the former temporary agent is resident in Italy, INPS only completes part B of the CE-AATC form, which informs about the possible right to unemployment benefits.

HOW CAN I CLAIM?

Once the CE-AATC form has been completed, the community institution to which the former agent belonged issues five copies to the interested party to be delivered to INPS and to the employment centre for filling out the relevant boxes.

Workers who are Italian citizens and resident in Italy, when meeting all the requisites, unemployment benefits are only granted for workers who have returned to Italy, as required by Law no. 402 of 25 July 1975, . The above type of worker is not subject to the provisions on unemployment contained in EU regulations No. 883/2004 and No. 987/2009.
