Individuals of either gender aged between 16 and 65, pursuant to the regulations on access to work, may enrol on the fund.

If there are no circumstances preventing enrolment on the fund, claims will automatically be approved and the interested party can start to pay in contributions once they receive the claim acceptance notice, accompanied by the first postal current account payment slips provided for payment.

Enrolment on the fund takes effect on the first day of the month in which the enrolment Claim was made, and remains valid even when no contributions are paid in.

Household members aged between 18 and 65, who exclusively perform domestic tasks to take care of the family, without subordination or remuneration, must enrol on the INAIL (the Italian National Insurance Institute for Employment Injuries).

Individuals already enrolled on Mutuality pensions are also automatically enrolled on the Housepersons Fund and can use the contributions that they have already paid in as a "single entry premium".

REQUIREMENTS

The fund is available to individuals who:

• undertake unpaid household work with family responsibilities, without subordination;
• those who are not direct pension holders;
• do not perform employed or independent contract work which would require them to be enrolled with another pension authority or fund;
• undertake part-time work which, as a result of the schedule and pay, does not allow them to complete the minimum number of weeks required for them to be eligible to receive a pension.

HOW CAN I CLAIM?

Claims must be submitted online to the INPS using the appropriate service.

Alternatively, claims can be made through:

• the contact centre on 803 164 (free for calls made from landlines) or on 06 164 164 from mobile phones;
• aid offices and intermediaries of the institute, using the electronic services that these provide.
