In compliance with legislation under Legislative Decree No 196 of 30 June 2003:

• electronic illness certificates shall be made available to the workers to which they refer;
• electronic illness certificates (prognosis only) shall be made available to employers and to authorised employment consultants, as well as to the workers to which they refer.

By using the online service for consultation illness certificates, workers can read and print their illness certificates by entering the note's unique protocol number and the identification PIN number issued by the INPS, which grants access.

By using the online service for consultation prognosis only illness certificates, workers can read and print their illness certificates by entering its unique protocol number and their Italian fiscal code, as specified on the certificate. Specific authentication is not required to view these certificates.

Employers and authorised employment consultants can check and print prognosis only illness certificates referring to their dependent workers or dependent workers of the companies that they manage as consultants by using the online service for viewing prognosis only illness certificates for employers, which can be accessed by entering the company PIN. A variety of different searches can be carried out and the list of certificates of sickness can also be downloaded.

To check a specific prognosis only illness certificate, employers or authorised employment consultants can also access the service for viewing prognosis only illness certificates by entering the protocol number of the certificate and the employee's tax code.
