From 1 October 2021, INPS will issue a PIN as a credential to access services only to citizens resident abroad who do not have an Italian identity document.
The standard PIN obtained online or from the Contact centre does not allow you to submit claims for allowances and benefits. To use these services, you must convert your standard PIN into a device PIN using the online procedure to convert your PIN.
After the user has accessed the online procedure and entered the standard PIN, he or she must print and sign the request form, scan the signed form and an identification document and upload them both online as instructed by the “Do you want the device PIN?" procedure.
Alternatively, the signed form and a copy of the document can be faxed to the Contact centre on fax number (+39) 800 803 164 or hand-delivered by making an appointment at the Fast Counter of an INPS office using the INPS offices service, using the "Office Counters" feature of the INPS Mobile app or by calling the Contact Centre on (+39) 803164 from a landline (free of charge) or (+39) 06164164 from a mobile phone (charged at your standard mobile rate). The service is available from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m..
Once the checks are complete, the standard PIN will be converted into a device PIN.
