What is it?

Every year, INPS supports participation in university masters courses in Italy by providing contributions to partially cover tuition fees.

Listen to the podcast "Scholarships an opportunity for young people" on the "INPS on air" channel of the Spreaker platform.

Who is it aimed at?

The benefit is intended for the children or orphans of employees or pensioners enrolled in the Unified Scheme of Credit and Social Benefits and children of pensioners of the Civil Servants’ Pension Scheme (GDP) and the Teachers and School Managers Assistance Scheme who have a three-year degree, a master's degree or an old-system degree.

How does it work?

START DATE AND DURATION

Contributions are awarded per academic year through a competition notice, published on the INPS website in the “Welfare, Assistance and Mutuality” section.

WITHDRAWAL OF BENEFIT

After publication of the ranking list of those admitted conditionally to the benefit, the student has 60 days to access the procedure and attach the required documentation. The second part of the documentation for payment of the balance must be uploaded into the procedure within 60 days of the end of the masters course.

REQUIREMENTS

In order to be admitted to the competition, the candidate must:

  • possess the ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) for university benefits referring to the household, valid at the date of the claim. It is worth remembering that INPS assumes no responsibility in the event of failure by the affiliated institutes to transmit the certification online or the incorrect transcription of the applicant's tax code;
  • have a university degree. The merit requirement (grade) will be verified at the MIUR. Participation in the competition announcement implies authorisation for INPS to check with the MIUR that the merit requirements for access and for exact positioning in the ranking list are met. If the data is not communicated by the MIUR, the applicant will receive a rejection notice and, if the conditions are met, may self-certify the merit requirements;
  • meet all the requirements laid down by the chosen university for admission to the masters course.

The contribution to cover tuition fees for masters courses in Italy is up to Euro 10,000.

WHEN CAN I CLAIM?

The claim may only be submitted after the notice tender has been published.

HOW CAN I CLAIM?

The claim can be submitted exclusively online: after clicking on “Use the service”, select "Welfare Benefits Portal”.

The interested party must claim, if not already completed, registration with the INPS Civil Servants’ Pension Scheme database, using the AS150 form.

Processing times of the decision

The deadline to define the decision was set at 30 days by the Regulation for the definition of the terms to conclude the administrative proceedings adopted by INPS pursuant to Article 2 of Law no. 241/1990.

The table attached to the Regulation shows both the deadlines for defining the decisions established by the Institute that are longer than the normal 30-day period, and the indication of the relative manager.
