What is it?

It is a contribution to partially cover the costs of participating in a language course in one of the host countries.

At the end of the course, the certifying body will issue certification of the language level B2, C1 or C2, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages - CEFR.

Listen to the podcast "Scholarships an opportunity for young people" on the "INPS on air" channel of the Spreaker platform.

Who is it aimed at?

The Competition Tender notice for the language course abroad is a service dedicated to children or orphans and those equivalent by law of:

  • dependent workers and pensioners of the public administration registered in the Unified Scheme of Credit and Social Benefits;
  • pensioners benefiting from the Civil Servants’ Pension Scheme;
  • members of the IPOST Fund Scheme.

How does it work?

The course must include:

  • a minimum duration of three weeks and a maximum of five weeks;
  • compulsory attendance for at least 20 hours (of 60 minutes each) per week;
  • take place in the foreign country where the official language is the language of the course, in the months of June, July and August.

At the end of the course the exam must be held for obtaining a certification of the level of proficiency in the language B2, C1 or C2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), issued by the relevant certification institutes.

The contribution is paid as a percentage of the expenses incurred for:

  • the course;
  • room and board;
  • the travel expenses.

The percentage of repayment is established in relation to the ISEE (Equivalent economic situation indicator) value of the family unit the student belongs to and is calculated on the lowest amount between the actual expenditure and the maximum reimbursable ceiling, as in the example.

The contribution is incompatible with similar benefits.

The list of incompatibilities is contained in the annual call for tenders.

In the event that a student is already the beneficiary of an incompatible allowance, he/she will be excluded from the rankings of study stays abroad.

WHEN CAN I CLAIM?

The deadlines are indicated in the competition tender notice.

HOW CAN I CLAIM

The claim must only be submitted on-line using the "Welfare Benefits Portal". Once in the service, click on "Manage claim", "Submit claim" and "Use the service". Finally, click on "Go to benefit" under "Language courses abroad".

To consult claims relating to previous years, on the other hand, the 'Estate INPSieme-Civil Servants’ Pension Scheme/ex IPOST' service is available.

Both services are accessible from this page.

Before completing and submitting the claim, it is necessary to
make sure of:

  • being registered in the INPS database;
  • check that the PC has the correct configuration.

Following the publication of the rankings of admitted candidates with reservations, the claimant must upload, in the reserved area of the site, through the dedicated service, a document certifying the registration to a course with the characteristics envisaged by the competition announcement.

Processing times of the decision

The deadline to define the decision was set at 30 days by the Regulation for the definition of the terms to conclude the administrative proceedings adopted by INPS pursuant to Article 2 of Law no. 241/1990.

The table attached to the Regulation shows the deadlines for defining the measures established by the Institute that are longer than the normal 30-day period, and the indication of the relative manager.
