Display of undue amounts

How can the undue sums ascertained by the Institute be viewed, and how can an independent instalment recovery plan be simulated and activated online?

Publication: 27 June 2023 Latest update: 28 November 2024

What is it?

The display of undue amounts service allows you to:

  • investigate your undue position;
  • view information on the nature of the debt;
  • monitor the information on the progress of the recovery.;
  • simulate and activate online an instalment recovery plan with cash remittance through pagoPA payment notices.

Who is it aimed at?

The service is open to users who have received undue amounts (not due) from INPS arising from:

  • pension benefits
  • welfare benefits;
  • unemployment arrangements.

Undue sums deriving from Citizens’ Income are excluded.

How does it work?

In the event of providing benefits not due, in whole or in part, INPS has the right to recover the sums unduly paid.

The recovery actions include:

  • offsetting the sums with receivables payable by the debtor to INPS;
  • the withholding of sums on the benefits of which the debtor is the holder;
  • the payment of the sums with payment notice pagoPA which, at the request of the debtor, can be paid in instalments within 30 days of receipt of the first notification of undue payment.

The service, accessible through authentication, shows users the list of the undue amounts ascertained against them.

On each individual file, it provides the following information:

  • nature of the undue amount;
  • details of the notification communication;
  • state of progress of the recovery;
  • details of the active instalment recovery plan (if you are retired with withholding tax, or with monthly reimbursement);
  • any other recoveries made, only if offsets against receivables have been made;
  • chronology of the main events that occurred in the management of the undue case.

It is also possible to simulate, by varying the amount and/or number of potential instalments, and activate an online instalment recovery plan with remittance in cash through pagoPA payment notices.
