- of civil marriage;
- of the religious marriage with civil recognition [matrimonio concordatorio];

The benefit is available to non-employed workers who have worked for industrial companies or artisan craft companies. To receive the benefit, the persons indicated must meet the following criteria simultaneously:

The Allowance is not disbursed to those who only have a religious marriage.
You can only be entitled to subsequent Allowances if you are widowed, divorced or dissolved from civil partnership.
How does it work
What am I entitled to
The Marriage Leave Allowance is equivalent to seven days' pay. It is calculated on the basis of the salary received in the last pay period.
INPS directly disburses the Allowance to non-employed workers.
The Marriage Leave Allowance:
- cannot be combined with any other remuneration or replacement of remuneration for the same period;
- can be combined with the INAIL (National Insurance Institute for Employment) daily incapacity allowance for accidents at work.
Claim
The claim must be submitted directly to INPS within one year from the date of the event. Submissions made after this period shall result in forfeiture of the right.
Claims for the recognition of the benefit must be submitted via the dedicated INPS service.
The following features are available within the service:
- Information: information sheet on the benefit;
- Claim submission: completion of the claim for the Marriage Leave Allowance and electronic submission;

Processing times of the measure
The deadline to define the measure was set at 55 days by the Regulation for the definition of the terms to conclude the administrative proceedings adopted by INPS pursuant to Article 2 of Law no. 241/1990.
The table (in Italian) (pdf 210KB) attached to the Regulation shows both the deadlines for defining the measures established by the Institute that are longer than the normal 30-day period, and the indication of the relevant manager.
