What is it?
A PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a personal identification code that enables users to access online the INPS services, based on personal information and other data in the archives.
Thanks to this identification system, every user can access the services dedicated to him or her.
INPS issues a PIN to login and access the services only to citizens residing abroad who do not have an Italian identification document (INPS Circular No. 127 of 12 August 2021).
All other users can access the services offered by INPS using one of the accepted alternative authentication systems:
- Public Digital Identity System (SPID)
- Electronic Identity Card (CIE);
- National Service Card (CNS).
Citizens who are unable to use INPS online services autonomously may delegate a trusted person to exercise their rights in relation to the Institute.
All the information regarding the credentials for online services access is available in the section "Access the online services".
Who is it aimed at?
This service is provided exclusively to citizens residing abroad who do not have an Italian identification document.
How does it work?
PINs can be:
- ordinary, to view the contributory or pension position;
- dispositive, to request the services and financial benefits to which users are entitled.
In any case, users can submit a claim for a benefit also using an ordinary PIN, to avoid expiration of deadlines. The claim will then be processed as soon as the user has converted the ordinary PIN into a dispositive PIN.
Claim
A PIN claim can be submitted:
- through the "Claim PIN" function in the online PIN service;
- at the INPS office of reference with Form MV35, available in the "Forms" section of the INPS portal, after booking an appointment at the Office Desk.
Appointments with the local Office Desk, even without the credentials, can be booked:
- using the INPS Mobile app ("Office Desk" function);
- calling the Contact Centre on 803164 from landlines (free of charge) or on 06164164 from mobile phones (charged at your standard mobile rate), available from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
