Fourteenth month salary

It is an additional sum to the pension paid by INPS in July or December of each year and introduced by article 5, paragraphs 1 to 4, Decree-Law no. 81 of 2 July 2007, converted with amendments into Law no. 127 of 3 August 2007.
The fourteenth month pay is disbursed to pensioners of at least 64 years old who have a total income up to a maximum of 1.5 times the minimum annual of the Employees' Pension Fund up to 2016 and up to twice the minimum annual payment of the Employees' Pension Fund from 2017.
The 2017 Budget Law extended the right to the additional sum, to the extent foreseen until 2016, to individuals who have an income between 1.5 and 2 times the minimum annual payment of the Employees' Pension Fund (FPLD). The amount of the additional sum due to those who have an overall income equal to or less than 1.5 times the minimum annual payment of the FPLD has been increased.

Payment is made ex officio for pensioners of all schemes based on the income of previous years.
For those who meet the prescribed requirements by 31 July of the reference year, the benefit is disbursed in the July pension payment. For those who meet the personal requirements from 1 August onwards, the payment is included in the December payment of the reference year.
The fourteenth month pay is recognised provisionally if the conditions laid down by law are met, and is subsequently verified on the basis of the final income as soon as available.
